On 7th May 2026, the team from GCI had the honor of visiting the Department of Environmental Science & Climate Change, University of Liberia – Fendell Campus, Monrovia, Liberia. The meeting marked the beginning of a promising collaboration aimed at strengthening environmental education, research, innovation, and student empowerment.
The partnership will create valuable opportunities for internship placements and hands-on learning experiences for students, while fostering joint research, proposal development, and collaborative innovation. It will also promote cooperation in key areas such as climate change, agroecology, environmental sustainability, plastic recycling, biofertilizer and biopesticide innovations, alongside capacity building through workshops, knowledge exchange, and collaborative training, ultimately strengthening sustainable partnerships between academia and industry.
Both institutions emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for students and faculty members to engage in practical environmental solutions that contribute to national and global development goals. The engagement also proposed the need for strong partnerships in research and implementing impactful community-based environmental projects.
GCI remains committed to supporting youth development, innovation, environmental sustainability, and collaborative action for a greener future in Liberia and beyond.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership, faculty, and students of the University of Liberia for the warm welcome and insightful discussions. We look forward to a productive engagement towards a partnership ahead.
